[42.4s] OK, stop, stop! [44.1s] What does the Rat King prefer to be called? [48.0s] The Rat King. [49.6s] So not like your warship or anything like that. [51.8s] He just prefers Rat King. [53.2s] You guys could probably step it up, but not. [55.0s] There are so many other adjectives out there. [56.2s] I'm going to try this smile business and see about expanding our reach and maybe creating [66.7s] friendships at the same time. [69.0s] Yeah, and you know what, if you want to extend your reach, they can help you with your business [75.1s] venture as well. [114.8s] You shouldn't be making my mouth movements, I'm making your mouth movements. [120.7s] This is very strange. [122.6s] With me today is Amy More. [124.6s] Yes I am. [126.0s] I play Sullivan Sleight, a lightfoot halfling rogue. [132.4s] Tom was making fun of you there. [134.0s] I wasn't even looking, I missed it. [136.2s] Yep, watch the playback. [138.7s] Also with me, Carla Max dead. [140.7s] That's me. [141.7s] I play Glim, a dragonborn pAlydin and Tom Laird. [146.0s] Yeah, I play Moot. [147.9s] He's a half or wild magic sorcerer. [152.6s] How's everybody doing today? [154.0s] Good. [155.0s] Doing pretty good. [156.0s] I have wine. [157.0s] Oh, then Amy's doing the best. [159.2s] Some of us are doing better than the others. [161.8s] Maybe where we're always having wine might be over on Patreon. [165.4s] We don't know what your beverages are. [188.6s] It's a very powerful name. [190.8s] Don't you know who I am? [192.1s] Jack Green. [193.1s] Jack Green. [194.1s] Oh yeah. [195.9s] So that's a power name. [197.8s] So you should pull that from the episode, Jack, and just use it as like your ringtone. [201.4s] Don't you know who I am? [203.1s] Jack Green. [204.1s] Jack Green. [205.1s] Yes please. [206.1s] Maybe. [207.1s] Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast so you can go check out all that sweet stuff [211.2s] over there. [212.2s] Please do. [213.2s] We would love it. [214.2s] Fuck it. [215.2s] Let's play D&D. [216.2s] The three of you, Moot, Glim and Sully, as we now know, are in Waterdeep. [231.9s] And since the last time we saw you, there was a rather large ceremony that took place. [238.5s] One dedicated to those that saved the realm. [242.7s] The Decimators of Dragons, as well as all the many hundreds of thousands of men and [247.9s] women across Faerun who fought against the Cult of the Dragon. [254.6s] Now we're not going to go through the whole ceremony with you three there, but give me [259.2s] a little sense of how you took this whole ceremony in. [266.2s] It was just in like a big kind of village square, correct? [270.6s] In the streets, kind of like a procession. [273.8s] So the description that I gave is at the castle Waterdeep is where Lady Leral Silverhand [284.9s] and Lord Neverember and all the other heads of different factions were set up and giving [293.4s] their speeches. [294.4s] So the actual view of them in real world terms was put up on big jumbo screens, jumbo trons, [303.5s] kind of all through the city, using magic of sorts, of course, in our world. [311.2s] But people were all through the streets of Waterdeep watching and taking this in [315.8s] and giving their thoughts and prayers to those that had lost their lives and those [321.3s] that had come back victorious. [326.6s] I was probably in a tavern but on a terrace, like outside, drinking a beer, watching the [337.5s] big screen. [341.5s] I'm keeping it low key. [342.5s] I'm not running through the streets. [343.5s] I'm not, you know, I'm just kind of keeping it down low. [347.1s] Now Sully, we know, is or was rather a member of the Cult of the Dragon. [356.2s] So this is, I mean, you would have heard a few days prior, at least a couple days [360.7s] prior that the Cult of the Dragon lost the battle. [365.3s] What kind of feeling and emotion is Sully going through knowing that the people [372.1s] of Faerun were victorious against them? [375.6s] Well, I think Sully's super happy about it, but I think he's really ashamed. [380.3s] He never wants the secret to be out. [382.7s] He doesn't want to be grouped or lumped in with those people who did all that, [389.5s] even though he feels somewhat like he would deserve it, but also feels very, [398.8s] I don't know, he's a little bit torn. [401.0s] He's very much excited that they've lost, that the cult lost, but at the same time, [407.3s] he's a little worried about what this could mean for him. [411.7s] And if he's in the clear now or not, he's kind of sitting on pins and needles. [420.5s] I think he's, he doesn't want to get, let himself get too, too excited. [427.3s] I think Glim is, of course, very inspired by all of this because, you know, [434.1s] she has a destiny to save the world. [437.6s] So she probably is standing in front of one of those screens and just like staring, [444.6s] crying, like very intent, not doing really anything else except for kind of taking it in [452.3s] and really feeling like deep feelings of loss, even though, you know, [456.7s] she didn't know any of these people personally. [459.1s] It hadn't really affected her where she was in her isolated little community or anything. [465.0s] But the sadness at having lost people, but more importantly, [469.3s] like how powerful it feels that everybody has come together and risen up. [475.0s] And, you know, there's like a lot of love feelings around. [480.1s] Everyone is so happy, even though they are also sad, but they've been victorious. [484.3s] So she's just like crying. [490.9s] Kind of similar to Glim's experience. [494.1s] Moot kind of is in the big like town square in front of one of the viewing screens. [500.6s] And he's just kind of looking around and noticing that there's like all different [505.7s] like races and creeds all in one place, like taking in the same thing. [510.5s] Like he sees tieflings and half orcs and halflings and, you know, [515.6s] everybody in between that are all just like are like sharing the one moment together. [524.3s] It's a couple days or two or three days after the ceremony. [529.9s] Since you've been here, the streets have been packed. [532.9s] Camps have been set up in and around the outlying area of Waterdeep. [538.9s] None of you three had been to Waterdeep previously, I think we had established, [543.0s] unless I'm incorrect. [545.0s] Sounds right. [546.6s] Correct. [547.7s] So this is the only way that you've known Waterdeep is full to the brim with people. [555.4s] So it's two or three days after and a large percentage of the people, [561.1s] now that some of the forces have been have come back and gotten become rested. [568.9s] They are starting to take people back out in large caravans [573.8s] to the cities where they originally came from, [576.8s] to the towns to help rebuild and get a foot back up and get started back with life again. [586.9s] You three have been here for a couple of weeks now. [590.5s] Where are you staying? [593.1s] I think you had previously mentioned something to the effect of Bahamut, Temple of Bahamut. [600.7s] Yeah, I mean, that's like my whole thing is that I am always welcome there. [604.8s] So I feel like I even invited these guys also to stay there with me. [609.5s] Is that accurate? [610.8s] I remember maybe me saying that, but I don't know that I have the authority to do that. [615.7s] They were probably too kind to say that we weren't really allowed to come and stay with you, [619.9s] but they were just like, yeah, that's fine. [623.5s] So you've been there for a couple of weeks. [625.5s] And as far as temples go, this one is very modest. [631.6s] In fact, in order to find it, it took the three of you quite a long time [636.3s] and asking around to many different people because it's only marked by a small wooden sign [644.0s] that is worn incredibly with age that still that holds a very worn image of the symbol of Bahamut on it. [656.5s] Inside, there's only a few rooms, probably six to eight rooms. [662.6s] There's the one main chamber where people come in to to pray [669.3s] and to speak with the priest or priestess there. [676.1s] And we're going to say that during this time, Glim, you might not have had much one on one time that you've set up your Zumba. [691.1s] You've you've gone out and you've stopped the Rat King. [694.9s] You've taken in this this large ceremony. [699.1s] But you haven't had a lot of one on one time with the main priestess there, Kelbis Krombeak. [707.8s] She is a bronze dragonborn. [713.1s] It's it's early morning and you get up and you come downstairs and she is. [720.8s] Just arranging some of the pews and putting out some some leaflets and just getting ready for the day. [728.8s] OK, well, I'm going to help. I'll just like help grab whatever needs distributing and doing while while she's, you know, working as well. [741.3s] She notices you and says, oh, oh, thank you. Thank you, Glim. [746.0s] Always so happy to help. How how are you today? [752.1s] I'm I'm quite well. It's it's it's a much lighter feeling in the city. [758.5s] Now that. Now that people are headed back to their homes under such such a victory. [767.3s] Yeah, it was I've never experienced anything like that before, just all of those people, and it was it was really incredible. [776.4s] Magical, some might say. Yeah, yeah, it felt spiritual for sure. [783.3s] What? It seems like an awful lot of the people that have been here are just going to get to go back home now. [792.9s] Yes, that is that is what it seems. The city will go back to regular working order and hopefully everybody else. [800.5s] Hopefully their towns and villages aren't are too too far set back. [806.6s] Well, it seems like at a time like this, everyone's going to be really willing to work super hard and work together to get everything kind of sorted out back in their homes. [817.1s] That is the idea. And from the sounds of the plans, they're kind of going city to city. [823.9s] So helping the first one, everybody in the caravan and then moving along. [829.0s] So. If everybody comes together, which they have done so far, it should go smoothly and. [836.9s] Life would be back to normal, at least as normal as it can be. [842.0s] And life will go back to normal here at the temple, too. [847.1s] That is the hope. It's it's there's been many people through here, much more than usual. [854.3s] We don't usually get a large amount of traffic. [857.7s] And what does normal mean here? I mean, it's a pretty small place. [864.5s] Yes, yeah. Those that follow Bahamut aren't particularly about flaunting or drawing too much attention to themselves. [878.4s] They don't usually stick to one place for a great amount of time. [883.4s] They want to go out and do good and carry the name as you as you know. [891.0s] Well, that Bahamut, he's a real he's a real. [894.6s] Do it yourself, kind of. You know, he wants everybody to to do their own thing and take care of themselves. [901.4s] And it's part of why I love him so much. [905.2s] Bahamut, the DIY God, some might say he wants to make it right. [912.1s] No, no one would say that. [916.3s] No, you shouldn't compare Mike Holmes to Bahamut. [922.5s] Blasphemy. [924.9s] Well, I really appreciate you letting me and my friends stay here. [929.4s] Of course, you are always welcome. [933.1s] How long do you think you will be here? [936.5s] And where where where are you expected or where do you plan to go next? [943.7s] Well, I mean, I've told you about my destiny, so I have some things I need to do to accomplish that. [949.5s] But I don't know that I'm quite ready yet. [954.7s] I think me and my friends, if they'll come with me, maybe we need to go. [961.6s] Experience a little bit more of the world before it's before it's time to, you know, go find my destiny. [970.3s] Right. [971.8s] Do you have any suggestions or do you think I should stay here and study more or? [977.6s] I mean, you are certainly welcome to stay here, and I'm more than happy to impart whatever wisdom that I have upon you. [986.8s] You mentioned previously that your next major step in your destiny is traveling to Timanthor. [1001.1s] Yeah, I mean, the first part of my destiny was that I needed to find a halfling and then half orc. [1007.9s] I mean, I found I think I found my people. [1010.6s] It sure seems that way. [1011.7s] So I guess my next stop is to go to Timanthor and find the Citadel and pledge my oath, you know, to really, [1020.1s] really kind of go steady with Bahamut, really make things serious, you know. [1024.9s] You see her face go from a slight smile to a bit more serious. [1032.7s] And she says, my dear, what what do you know or what have you been told so far of Timanthor and specifically the capital? [1043.8s] Just that I have to go there. [1045.6s] It's the birthplace of the Dragonborn and I need to go and swear my oath. [1050.0s] But if you mean logistics and practicalities, not very much. [1058.6s] Well, let me let me do what I can to prepare you for what you might expect to see there. [1071.4s] That would be incredible. Thank you. [1073.7s] My fear is that it may have been slightly romanticized a bit for you. [1083.4s] The Citadel that you speak of is probably no more than what you see before you hear. [1093.7s] Timanthor and Gerod-Thamar specifically are a very militaristic place. [1103.4s] Religion doesn't stand very highly among the Dragonborn from from our homeland, if you say. [1114.3s] How long has your village been gone from Timanthor? [1120.3s] Oh, gosh, I mean, a long, a long, long time, you know, nobody. [1126.7s] I don't think anybody there even has relatives, you know, [1131.2s] like grandparents or great grandparents that had been there themselves. [1136.1s] So, right. Many generations. [1140.9s] The Dragonborn there, specifically, and the majority of them believe that there are no Dragon Gods. [1153.7s] What? No, where do they think we came from then? [1161.3s] They believe, and there are a few, obviously, who do believe more as we do. [1170.4s] They believe that the Dragonborn were created on another planet, [1177.1s] another plane, mirror to Toriel, which is where we are now. [1184.7s] Created by dragons and by the supposed gods that they call themselves as slaves. [1199.2s] And were used as such for work, for battle, [1206.8s] for sustenance, if so needed. [1214.7s] And when the two worlds, Abier and Toriel, collided, Timanthor split to Toriel. [1225.1s] And the majority of the Dragonborn population still to this day holds that value very high. [1237.1s] Hmm. Well, that sounds like a sad way to live, but I guess I understand why they would be, [1243.8s] you know, military and strong, and I guess they're awfully afraid that they might be enslaved again. [1252.4s] Exactly. So the citadel you seek is in Gerod-Thammar. [1261.5s] And to properly pledge yourself to Bahamut, you may travel there. [1271.3s] But know that your view of Dragonborn, specifically from your village, [1278.3s] might be shaken when you arrive. [1287.3s] I understand. I mean, thanks for warning me. [1296.7s] We'll go to Moot. [1298.5s] Yeah. [1299.5s] Where do we find Moot? [1301.8s] Moot is finally walking back to the Temple of Bahamut after his last shift, roofing, baubles and such. [1311.6s] Worked off all that. All that. [1315.6s] Well, I mean, you might not be done working there, but you've at least roofed it. [1319.1s] I've at least done that job. [1321.0s] Yeah. During your time in Waterdeep, how often have you been casting spells? [1333.3s] Not very often, and it's been very small things like Mage Hand. [1338.7s] You know, if I forgot something down on the ground when I climbed up the ladder to get up on the roof, [1343.1s] then I just, you know, crab clawed up to me. [1346.7s] Never wanted a real spell, like a spell to be as real as I do right now. [1351.9s] Because that feels very like, you know, you get upstairs, you realize you left your water downstairs, your phone. [1357.9s] I use it all the time. [1360.1s] Just well, I don't know if mine would look like a crab claw, but yeah. [1363.1s] No, I think they have to look like crab claws, Amy. [1366.5s] I'm pretty sure. [1367.5s] I think I read that in the player's handbook somewhere. [1369.8s] Oh, yeah. OK, then. [1371.7s] You're thinking back on one of these times when something odd happened. [1379.9s] Roll me a percentile die or percentile dice. [1387.7s] Well, yeah, there's the two of them. [1390.4s] We are looking at a 10 and a 10, so 11. [1396.1s] That should be an 11. [1398.7s] How tall is Moot? [1400.9s] I think I've said somewhere around six feet in the past. [1403.2s] OK, roll me a D10. [1406.5s] OK. [1410.7s] That is a seven. [1413.5s] So what were you doing? [1415.2s] Was it just Mage Hand? [1416.5s] And when did this happen? [1418.7s] Yeah, I was just casting Mage Hand to bring up a hammer that I had left down on the ground. [1426.3s] Perhaps today? [1427.7s] Yeah, like right at the last part of my shift. [1431.9s] You did this. [1433.3s] You were bringing up the hammer. [1434.8s] You cast Mage Hand. [1436.2s] You're bringing up the hammer and you felt odd. [1439.8s] You couldn't quite place it. [1442.8s] And when you left, [1446.7s] you said goodbye to Bombera, who really wasn't paying much attention. [1450.7s] She looked up, kind of looked confused at you and [1455.2s] said, well, we'll see you. [1456.4s] We'll see you on Monday or whenever the next day of the week in Faerun it is. [1464.2s] You have a good weekend. [1467.1s] And she went back to her book, not really paying too close attention. [1472.0s] You are where are you headed? [1474.9s] Back to the Temple of Bahamut. [1480.2s] You get a very distinct sense. [1483.9s] How am I going to do this? [1485.0s] Because this is everything seems to destroy your world. [1489.0s] No, I'm not trying to destroy your world. [1490.5s] I'm just trying to figure out when Moot would pay attention to this. [1496.1s] Well, it depends on what happened to him, right? [1498.3s] Yeah, no, things, things seem bigger. [1504.6s] Just everything seems like it's just a little bit out of place. [1508.2s] OK, like he put on a new prescription in your eyes, [1511.5s] like need that time to adjust to it. [1514.7s] Sure. Yeah, we could say that. [1517.4s] More like Mario getting hit with a with a shell. [1521.8s] Now, pipes are a lot taller, a lot looser. [1525.5s] Yeah. You're walking back down the street [1530.5s] and you see Sully coming up towards you. [1534.9s] I'm going to tell you what happened to him and then you can describe what you see. [1541.0s] I give a wave and a the Sully. [1545.6s] I walk up to Moot and I. [1557.3s] Just kind of take a moment and stare at him. [1561.8s] What's what's up? [1565.5s] Did you do something different with your hair? [1568.5s] No, I mean, I think it's the same as it was before, and he kind of grabs his hair. [1574.7s] New clothes? [1576.5s] No, no, I've I've only have like the two outfits and this is one of them. [1581.8s] Have you been secretly wearing lifts and just didn't tell anybody? [1586.6s] Lifts? You know, to make, you know, to make you taller. [1591.9s] Make a perception check, Moot. [1597.3s] That is an 11. [1600.6s] Sully seems closer in your height to you than you do, [1603.9s] like maybe you're just exhausted. [1606.3s] Maybe you're just super tired, but Sully seems like he grew. [1611.7s] Going to, like, hold my hand out and be like, [1617.5s] since did you get bigger? [1623.5s] Well, no, but did I get smaller? [1629.2s] I. What? [1633.8s] I think so. [1635.1s] I and I stand beside him and I do where you put your hand on your head [1640.8s] to match where the other person is. [1643.7s] And whereas before, if you were six feet tall. [1647.4s] Oh, God, how tall am I? [1649.8s] They probably got three feet tall. [1651.8s] Elbow height. [1654.7s] I'm only three foot five. [1658.5s] So I would be like. [1661.3s] Like waist height for you, essentially like half your size. [1665.7s] Now I am more like. [1668.7s] Chest height. [1671.6s] And I'm like, yeah. [1674.4s] Yeah, there's something wrong with either your torso or your legs. [1678.8s] Well, they feel fine. [1682.5s] I felt bad earlier. [1684.5s] Maybe do you think someone like [1687.2s] cursed me or something? [1689.5s] Why, you pissed someone off? [1691.1s] I don't think so. [1691.9s] I mean, I was just roofing all day. [1693.7s] I can't imagine anyone was angry about that. [1697.0s] Well, then I get probably not. [1699.5s] I mean, when people curse people, I mean, it takes a lot. [1703.2s] So I hear and I. [1707.7s] I don't know, like, are you Benjamin Biden? [1711.0s] Younger. [1713.9s] The famous explorer? [1715.2s] I don't think so. [1717.0s] Well, didn't he get younger and younger and he was getting smaller and smaller? [1722.7s] Oh, different, different Benjamin Button. [1724.9s] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. [1726.8s] Uh huh. [1728.1s] You are you growing backwards? [1730.9s] You two, I assume, continue [1734.4s] at least kind of walking at a slow pace. [1736.4s] You pass by the bakery that you you you love to go. [1740.0s] The Sun and Stars. [1741.7s] That is the name of it, yes. [1743.4s] And you walk up to it and look through the glass [1745.9s] like you usually do before you go in and purchase. [1748.9s] And you are seven inches shorter now. [1755.9s] Yeah, I can. [1758.7s] We we need to go quicker back to the temple. [1761.3s] I needed maybe they can help out with this. [1764.5s] Well, hold on. You're looking at the big goods. [1767.0s] They were just going to leave. [1768.8s] I feel like this me being quite a bit shorter than normal [1773.1s] maybe takes precedent over the croissants. [1775.8s] But it doesn't really seem to be like a life threatening kind of like, [1780.0s] what's so bad about being small? [1782.0s] The door bursts open and the store owner named. [1786.9s] You know, Tom, you've been there so much in their numerous times. [1790.6s] You guys are besties. [1792.4s] Mauritius. Oh, Remy's easier to spell. [1795.2s] That's a better choice. Remy. [1796.3s] What did you say? [1797.5s] I said Mauritius, Remy Mauritius. [1801.7s] His name sounds delicious. It sure does. [1805.3s] Don't spell that. That's how you spell it now. [1807.4s] Remy comes out, he says, Oh, Moot, it's such a pleasure to see you. [1811.3s] We have some new what? [1814.1s] You seem smaller, my friend. [1816.5s] Yeah, I don't know. [1817.4s] Some something happened to me. [1819.3s] Do you know anything about magic? [1821.0s] Usually when people usually when people eat here many times as you, [1825.1s] they don't get smaller. They get wider. [1827.2s] Well, yeah, I mean, I was there for a little bit till I started that roofing job [1830.9s] and then, you know, worked off all those extra turnovers I was eating. [1833.9s] But, you know, it just seemed to be legitimately smaller than before. [1839.9s] Which I don't see why that's a problem, but apparently it's a problem. [1843.9s] But Sully, if you all of a sudden [1847.0s] were seven inches taller than you normally are, [1849.7s] wouldn't you be concerned about that? [1851.7s] Now be fucking ecstatic. [1854.1s] OK, what if you were seven inches shorter than you normally are? [1857.2s] Well, don't even put that out into the atmosphere, man. [1859.8s] Sully starts to look around like someone's going to jump out [1862.3s] and curse him at any moment. [1863.5s] He would be as small as a toadstool. [1866.7s] This is this is creeping in on him. [1868.6s] That's racist. My grandmother was a toadstool. [1872.9s] Well, he would come by it naturally then. [1876.9s] You're coming in for for some for some for some goods. [1881.0s] Can I rain check on the goods? [1883.1s] I got to go figure out what's going on here first. [1888.2s] Can he not rain check on the goods? [1891.2s] Only one chance. [1891.8s] Is the bakery going under if I don't buy something this moment? [1894.9s] This is Moot's usual time. [1896.7s] I mean, perhaps there was something special set. [1898.6s] They'll never know. [1899.6s] Oh, no. [1902.1s] It works. [1904.2s] That's all. [1905.2s] Well, hey there. [1916.7s] Welcome back to the middle. [1918.1s] It's just me, your Dungeon Master, Rush More, here with you this fine day. [1923.6s] A little late getting this together. [1925.3s] We had a big record session for some episodes coming up [1928.7s] with Kyle Claset of Bombarded. [1930.9s] And we can't wait for you to hear those episodes. [1933.4s] Those will be coming up beginning to mid-November. [1937.1s] Looking forward to that. [1938.3s] One thing we want to let you know is that we have a big sale going on [1941.9s] for anybody and everybody over in our T-Public store. [1945.0s] All our regular shirts, all our designs, all of the things [1948.4s] that we have going on over there. [1949.9s] We've got some pretty cool D&D specific designs. [1952.3s] We've got lots of Dumbgeons and Dragons designs. [1954.8s] Some Flammikins, some new crews, some Decimators of Dragons. [1959.6s] All those regular shirts will be on sale for $13. [1963.2s] Everything else is going to be up to 35% off. [1966.1s] We've got mugs. We've got pillows. [1968.4s] We've got stickers, all sorts of really cool stuff. [1973.4s] The link for that, for our T-Public store front, [1976.7s] where you can get all those sweet designs, is down in the description. [1980.3s] And that sale is going on today through this weekend. [1985.0s] And we'd really love if you go check it out, [1987.2s] see if you find something, some Dungeons swag [1990.4s] to adorn your wardrobe with. [1993.2s] But because it's late, that's all I have for you today. [1996.3s] So let's get back to the episode here and find out what's going on [1999.3s] with these crazy new crew kids. [2001.3s] And we will talk to you next week. [2003.8s] Welcome to Very Random Encounters, where we play tabletop RPGs [2007.5s] and randomly determine as much as possible. [2009.3s] Remember playing with Legos and swapping the people's heads and limbs [2012.5s] to create horrid abominations that God forgot? [2015.2s] Our show is what it would be like if those rejected attempts [2018.0s] at the human form had to go out and save the day. [2020.8s] We turn the nonsense into a story with a nice message, [2023.7s] like how friendship is stronger than a mind controlled goblin jazz band. [2027.9s] It is a thing that really happened. [2029.2s] Find Very Random Encounters wherever you randomly [2032.1s] determined to listen to podcasts. [2033.8s] You head off back down the street and you make it back to the temple. [2038.7s] Sully is chasing behind. [2041.4s] I run and like jump and we're eye level and I'm like. [2044.1s] Oh, this is novel. [2050.2s] I hope it never wears off. [2053.0s] You burst through the door and Glim and Kelbus [2056.2s] are are standing there speaking together. [2060.8s] Hi. Hi, guys. [2063.0s] Hi. Look how small he is. [2065.2s] What happened to your friend? [2066.8s] You do. Oh, what happened? [2069.8s] You're you're just a real little guy now, aren't you? [2073.1s] Because I don't know. [2074.3s] Hold on a second. [2076.2s] I don't know what what happened. [2078.3s] I was roofing and I was using my my crab claw [2083.8s] to get some things down and I didn't feel very good. [2086.6s] And then all of a sudden I'm short. [2091.1s] I don't. I wonder if this happens to other people who are roofing. [2097.5s] You know, like maybe it's like an epidemic or something [2099.9s] that happens or roofing too much. [2101.3s] You got roof feet. You got roof feet. [2105.7s] I don't know if that's what they mean. [2109.1s] No, that's fine. [2112.8s] I don't I don't like the sound of this. [2116.7s] Well, did you did you eat anything weird? [2121.1s] Did you get did somebody curse you? [2123.9s] That's what I thought did. [2126.1s] Did you get bit by a spider? [2128.1s] Because sometimes they can do things to you. [2131.1s] I don't remember being bit by a spider and Mootlake starts [2134.3s] like touching his arms and legs to like check for spider bites. [2138.9s] No, I don't I don't I don't feel anything. [2143.5s] Maybe you're just growing backwards. [2145.8s] Yeah, had you considered that you're growing backwards? [2149.0s] I mean, I hadn't I didn't think people could do that. [2151.5s] Does that happen a lot with half orcs? [2154.1s] No, we're always tall. [2156.2s] Well, maybe you're going more to the half than you are to the orc. [2159.9s] I wow. [2162.8s] Fucking deep, man, I have a lot of thoughts that I just don't say. [2166.1s] I think I'm just going to say them. [2170.1s] Tom, how do you want to play this out? [2171.1s] Do you want to roll intelligence to see if you remember [2173.4s] talking to Gabriel about or Gabriel or Layden [2177.5s] about wild magic surges? [2179.5s] I mean, I do remember talking to Gabriel about it and nothing [2182.1s] had happened at that point. Right. OK. [2184.8s] So maybe it's just taking a minute to like [2187.9s] sink in that this is somehow related to that. [2190.3s] Could be initial shock and everything. [2193.2s] Yeah. Maybe roll an intelligence check. [2194.9s] We'll see if it's kind of sinks in during this conversation. [2197.3s] Well, and you don't want to think that you did this to yourself. [2202.0s] It must be a curse. [2203.1s] I bet you but that's an 18 for the intelligence check. [2208.3s] So during the course of this conversation, you're talking about curses [2212.3s] and half orcs becoming more half an orc. [2215.6s] And you as something clicks in your mind, [2220.1s] talking to Gabriel about using magic the way that sorcerers do, [2224.8s] the way that you do and tapping into wild magic [2228.5s] and how there can be adverse side effects. [2232.9s] Wait, guys, do you remember what Gabriel said to me [2236.7s] when we were leaving? [2238.5s] He talked about things can like happen. [2242.7s] Things can come through the wild magic. [2246.6s] No, I'm sorry. [2248.6s] I really I don't I'm not a very good listener. [2252.9s] Well, you might even been sleeping in the cart at that point. [2256.0s] That sounds like me. [2257.7s] Glim, do you do you am I I remember having this conversation. [2262.1s] He said that sometimes like surges can happen. [2266.1s] Maybe that's what happened. [2267.9s] Right. And did he say something about Mala? [2271.4s] Did he say something about what specifically would happen? [2275.5s] Did he mention getting smaller? [2278.4s] No, I think he was deliberately vague about what can happen. [2283.7s] Hmm. Sounds like Gabriel. [2287.5s] I once knew a wizard that did the like the like the voodoo like you do. [2294.2s] And he once he once tried to light a candle on fire [2299.3s] to light a candle on fire, but accidentally brought through a wormling. [2305.1s] And let me tell you, it was crazy because he was inside [2309.5s] and everything his room was trashed. [2312.7s] Kelvis, do you do you know if there's any sorcerers [2317.1s] or magic teachers or anything in town here that maybe I could talk to? [2324.3s] Um, well, or do you know much about magic? [2328.5s] I don't. I don't know a great deal about shrinking, [2335.0s] using magic, especially without knowing. [2337.7s] I mean, there are there are spells as far as I understand how to, [2342.6s] you know, to grow and and shrink individuals. [2345.7s] But yeah, usually that's like the the goal of the spell that is. [2350.0s] Oh, my God. Was it just really cold up on the roof? [2355.7s] No, it was. [2356.5s] It's a nice warm day. It was just hours ago. [2363.5s] I was in a pool. [2368.5s] I mean, there there are sorcerers, there are the school, [2372.4s] the school of wizardry there. [2377.3s] They may be able to help you. [2380.2s] I, yeah, I don't have much else for you, though. [2384.6s] I can. Send hopes and prayers [2391.7s] that your height returns. [2394.5s] I mean, thoughts and prayers don't do too much. [2398.6s] This is three mentions in this episode of like, thoughts and prayer. [2403.6s] It's called thoughts and prayers. [2406.1s] What about what about what about a magic user or a teacher [2410.5s] or a sorcerer or anyone you know of? [2413.3s] Um, sure. Yes. [2417.0s] I mean, I don't I don't know if it will say mean anything, [2419.6s] but I mean, you can just you can just go to to the wizarding school. [2425.6s] They have one of those here. [2428.0s] This is Waterdeep. [2428.9s] This is one of the this is perhaps the largest city in Faerun. [2432.3s] Of course, they have a school of wizardry here. [2435.7s] Idiot. I did not call him an idiot. [2438.9s] So that wasn't that wasn't selling. [2440.9s] Yeah, it sounded nothing like him. [2444.5s] At that moment, Sully Sully got a little quiet. [2447.7s] So you feel a little twang in your side. [2451.9s] Like it's just a sharp pain. [2454.0s] Oh, and we flash back to that morning. [2459.7s] Where do you wake up and what do you do first thing in the morning? [2463.8s] Why wake up in the temple? [2465.2s] Because that is where I'm staying. [2468.5s] This is the question. [2469.6s] Well, I know Sully's not like a like a drunkard going out [2473.3s] and sleeping in the streets. [2475.3s] No, no, he likes a bed or at least like a bedroll. [2481.0s] And he goes out and I think he's a wanderer. [2485.3s] He wanders through the streets. [2488.5s] He stops in shops. [2490.5s] He talks to different people. [2492.2s] He I think he stops infrequently right to see moot [2497.6s] to I think moots, maybe disappointment, I don't know. [2501.3s] But I have a feeling like not as much work gets done. [2504.6s] Oh, I would think no work would get done. [2508.0s] And so he really just spends his days kind of like milling about, [2513.9s] touching shiny stuff. [2517.4s] Only occasionally stealing. [2520.5s] He's really tried to stop that. [2522.1s] This morning, you wake up [2523.9s] and you're getting dressed and ready for the day. [2528.1s] And you kind of reach around. [2530.9s] You got like an itch on your side and you reach back to your side. [2536.3s] And there's a lump there. [2541.9s] What the fuck? [2544.1s] It's about the size of a large marble. [2549.9s] You can't quite see it from your angle. [2552.4s] You kind of get a bit of a reflection in in one of the windows. [2556.9s] There are no mirrors in your room, and it looks a little discolored. [2563.9s] Sully is not impressed. [2566.2s] Make a wisdom saving throw. [2569.4s] New dice, new dice, new dice. [2572.2s] It's exciting. [2573.5s] Oh, fuck, it's a five motherfucker wisdom. [2579.6s] It's a minus one, four. [2583.2s] You you at first, you feel disgusted and like, [2588.7s] where did this come from? [2589.8s] But then as you as you touch it, [2593.2s] you feel a sense of compassion for it. [2598.7s] OK. Well, I'm going to call you Ken. [2604.6s] And I put my clothes on and I go about my day with my buddy, Ken. [2610.5s] And we flashback to Moot getting the information that he needs. [2615.9s] And Kelba says it's El Torchul Academy. [2621.1s] Sorry, I forgot previously. [2623.0s] I don't often frequent there. [2627.4s] It is a magic school of Lord Thesp or El Torchul. [2633.1s] I don't know if you'll be able to get him, [2634.8s] but I'm sure there could be somebody there who would be able to help you. [2639.9s] Magic school of what was his name? [2643.0s] Lord Thesp El Torchul. [2647.3s] El Scorchow? El Scorchow. [2651.7s] El Torchow, like he tortures a lot of people. [2654.9s] All right. [2658.8s] OK, yeah, I guess maybe I should like go there immediately. [2664.3s] If you so desire your height back. [2672.3s] Oh, my gosh, what if you just keep shrinking and shrinking and shrinking? [2675.6s] Well, that's that's honestly a concern. [2678.0s] So I think I should go right now. [2681.4s] Does anyone want to come with or everyone cool here? [2684.5s] Well, I'll come with you. [2685.4s] I think I might be able to help you see the Lord. [2689.6s] I have a noble background, so I have an inn with the Lord. [2695.9s] I thought you had an inn with the Lord. [2700.4s] I mean, I can definitely get you an inn with Bahamad. [2705.5s] I'll tell you a little more about him on our way. [2708.2s] Sorry, he loves you. [2709.4s] He was a bit of a rule breaker. Lord Thesp. [2714.4s] Oh, God. OK, yeah, no, I'll come too. [2717.3s] Um, I have some questions of my own. [2721.2s] And I pet the side of my self. [2726.9s] Still have compassion. [2730.4s] OK, you leave the citadel [2734.3s] or leave the chapel temple, whatever we called it. [2737.7s] I've said them all. [2739.5s] And you head towards she [2742.0s] Kelbus gives you directions to the sea ward of Waterdeep. [2747.9s] And it is on the corner of Ivory and Diamond streets. [2752.8s] And you walk up and the Arcane Academy stands before you. [2757.2s] It's housed at a large villa. [2762.7s] And you step up to it. [2764.8s] There is no gate. [2766.3s] There's a closed door at the top of a large flight of stairs, though. [2772.0s] I like race up the stairs, [2775.1s] open the door. [2775.8s] Did you want to do any Lord talk in the streets? [2778.2s] I cut. I jumped over that. [2781.2s] No, like like any prostitutes in the streets. [2784.5s] Yes. Yeah. [2786.2s] OK, just check it. [2788.1s] I always want to make sure you get your it's your daily, daily five in. [2793.0s] No, no. [2793.6s] I mean, the Zumba class takes care of a lot of my mission work in the morning. [2797.9s] So fair enough. It's pretty, pretty good. [2800.8s] Perfect. Sorry, mood. [2803.1s] Yeah, so I like hustle up those stairs, [2805.8s] not even really caring if they're like right behind me or not. [2809.4s] I kind of throw open the door and head in and say, [2813.3s] is is Lord Thesp here? [2816.1s] Can I can I talk to the Lord Thesp, please? [2819.5s] There is a smaller, older woman [2823.1s] who's seated behind the desk who lets out an audible [2826.3s] as you throw the door open. [2827.8s] Are you Lord Thesp? [2830.1s] Hmm. No, dearie. [2832.3s] I'm not Lord Thesp. What is does no one knock anymore? [2837.0s] Sorry, it's I've had a day. [2839.3s] Oh, me too. [2841.5s] Oh, no. What happened in your day? [2843.3s] Well, this half orc just threw open the door screaming, [2848.5s] get me Lord Thesp. [2850.8s] I think I was just sitting here reading my tales. [2853.8s] But that's well, I skipped over that. [2856.6s] My heart skipped a beat. [2858.0s] That might have been on the please. [2860.8s] Sully, maybe I didn't. [2862.3s] I meant to if I didn't. [2864.2s] Fair enough. [2865.9s] Are you brought friends? [2867.4s] Yeah. Yeah, these are these are my friends. [2869.6s] I'm I'm mood and that's Glim and that's Sullivan slight. [2873.8s] Right. And yeah, I have a little like magic emergency. [2879.1s] Ah, magic emergency. [2880.7s] What is what is your emergency, my dear? [2882.8s] Well, I'm well, Sully, why don't you tell her? [2886.4s] Oh, oh, my. [2888.8s] He's shorter. [2890.2s] He looks perfectly fine to me. [2891.6s] Well, this morning when he left, he was about this much bigger. [2896.2s] And so he holds up his hands about seven inches apart. [2899.7s] Really? [2900.5s] And now he's like not that much bigger. [2902.5s] And he didn't have any issues with like sharp objects? [2907.1s] No, I don't think that he cut any [2911.0s] parts of his body off. [2912.4s] But I mean, I haven't seen him naked. [2914.7s] So I don't know. [2916.7s] No, all my parts are there. [2918.9s] OK, well, he does while magic. [2922.3s] He fucks up to dump it. [2923.7s] Great. I'm a secretary, so I don't really know. [2926.8s] I can't really judge the needs of needs of the you asked. [2932.2s] I did. Well, I'm trying to diagnose before I go. [2935.4s] You said you're just a secretary. [2937.2s] Well, it's good triage. [2938.7s] Triage secretary is what I am. [2941.2s] You have to you have to narrow down what is needed here. [2945.7s] Well, I have a question. [2947.0s] Once you get him sorted out. OK. [2951.3s] Oh, right now. Oh, no, we'll come back to you. [2953.1s] That's fine. Yeah, no, I see. [2955.5s] So what do you want to my my my new friend Moot Moot? [2959.7s] Was it? That's a fun noise. [2963.7s] Yeah, yeah, that's that's the one. [2966.1s] Well, I was wondering if I could I could talk to Lord Thess [2969.7s] because we were over at the Temple of Bahamut [2973.1s] and they figured that he would probably be the good person to talk to [2975.8s] about magic things. [2977.5s] Well, Lord Thasp isn't here right now. [2981.3s] Does he have like [2983.1s] a another person who like teaches here or anything? [2987.9s] We have we have several instructors, instructors here. [2991.4s] Do any of them deal with wild magic? [2997.9s] What about the fun noise? [2999.8s] Right. What about magical side effects? [3003.7s] Would you like me to go find somebody? [3005.4s] Is that would be fantastic. [3006.7s] Yeah. OK. OK. You wait. [3008.3s] You you three wait right here. [3012.0s] OK. She slowly gets up. [3017.1s] Takes her step. [3018.8s] So this is going to be a tiring walk. [3022.8s] Takes another step. [3025.6s] Ma'am, would it be helpful if you could just send one of us [3028.6s] to go fetch someone? [3029.6s] No, no, no, no. [3031.9s] It's my job. OK. [3034.5s] And she slowly walks around the corner. [3036.9s] So I've got this. [3039.3s] Don't worry about me. [3041.6s] I'll be fine. [3044.3s] Moot. [3049.1s] She's cleared around the corner. [3051.9s] I mean, it might have just glimpsed right. [3053.7s] It might have just been easier to send us. [3056.1s] Well, I mean, to be fair, we've never been here before. [3058.5s] We have no idea where we're going and we don't know who we're looking for. [3061.2s] So. What if. [3064.2s] But I mean, if she said, hey, it's three doors down on the left. [3067.0s] You're right. We could have handled that. [3068.2s] Yeah, you're right. [3071.1s] You wait a quite a while and she comes back [3077.3s] and says, yes, someone will be right, right out with you. [3083.1s] She slowly walks back to her desk. [3085.4s] Does anyone else want to play Rock, Rock, Sword, Scroll? [3094.5s] You hear. [3099.3s] No, I mean, OK, I knew you would. [3106.2s] You hear footsteps coming down the hall, [3110.1s] coming around the corner, you see a [3112.5s] a taller than Moot male. [3117.2s] He is a dark [3120.6s] tan skin, and he comes into the front entryway [3125.1s] and he says, is it you three who require [3130.5s] assistance of a great magical individual? [3135.7s] Well, it's just it's just me, really. [3137.6s] But yeah, they came along for moral support. [3140.9s] Well, I have my own question, but I mean, let's take care of your height problem first. [3146.3s] So you have a height problem? [3149.6s] Well, yeah, I am. [3152.5s] OK, well, first, hi, I'm Moot. [3154.9s] Yes. And that's Glim and that's. [3157.9s] You're the noise she was making. [3160.0s] Yeah. Yeah, that's the one. [3161.4s] She said it was a fun noise. [3163.5s] She did say it was a fun. [3164.9s] She said there was a fun noise waiting at the front and needed magical assistance. [3169.3s] Perfect. My name is Burko. [3171.9s] Hi, Burko. Nice to meet you. [3174.1s] Nice to meet you, too. [3175.6s] So, Burko, I do. [3177.2s] Oh, well, I have the capability of doing wild magic. [3182.0s] Not well. [3183.3s] Well, I mean, it's been pretty good up to this point, [3185.5s] but you are right about that. [3187.6s] It did not go so well earlier today. [3190.3s] I cast a spell and then didn't feel great after it happened. [3195.5s] And now I'm seven. [3197.4s] Is it seven inches shorter than I was before, Sully? [3200.3s] Mm hmm. Mm hmm. Yeah. [3202.8s] That's accurate. OK. [3206.3s] So I was just I was just curious, is this like a permanent thing? [3209.7s] Is this going to wear off? Can you reverse the effects? [3213.7s] I just need information here. [3215.7s] Mm hmm. [3218.2s] Would you call this a. [3221.1s] Debilitating effect. [3224.1s] Well, for reaching things, yeah. [3226.6s] Mm hmm. OK. [3229.6s] Well. I don't. [3236.7s] Hold on. [3237.8s] Let me talk to Fran here for a second. [3241.0s] He goes over and he whispers into her ears. [3245.3s] They look over at you. [3247.1s] That's just. [3252.2s] It's OK. [3257.2s] Well, I mean, we can we can. [3261.9s] I don't know what I can do for you here, friend. [3265.4s] If it is a spell. [3269.2s] Something that has an enlarge or reduce spell, obviously reduce. [3275.6s] Well, yeah, but I. [3277.5s] There's usually a time period in which it reverses. [3281.3s] Sure, but I wasn't casting a spell of that nature. [3286.4s] Mm hmm. [3289.4s] See, if I was casting something in that nature and it, you know, [3292.7s] happened to hit me to great, I understand that. [3295.3s] But this was just like a mage hand. [3298.6s] Right. Right. [3301.1s] Well, I can tell you that I can make you grow. [3309.5s] For a minute. [3317.7s] But I mean, that doesn't really seem like it's going to fix the problem. [3321.0s] No, no, it doesn't, does it? [3325.5s] See, most of the restoration spells [3329.9s] revolve around restoring something, ailing you. [3333.3s] And you, my friend, as far as I know, are exactly as you are supposed to be. [3341.6s] I think he's saying you got to suck it up. [3344.6s] Being short is not a disability. [3347.6s] Again, Sully, I didn't think it was. [3351.3s] It's just not that I don't feel like myself like this. [3356.8s] You know what? Give me, give me a couple of days. [3362.3s] Let me look into perhaps wild magic [3365.7s] and any instances of shrinking of individuals [3370.1s] because of said wild magic and see if I can't find anything [3373.1s] that would flippy the effect. [3378.5s] Is that the technical term? [3380.1s] Sounds super academic. [3382.1s] I am a magic professional. [3385.5s] I've dabbled in academia myself. [3389.2s] But so if we're done with with him, [3392.9s] what do you know about maybe having like a growth on yourself [3398.3s] that you feel like lots of love towards? [3400.4s] I'm not a doctor. [3402.5s] Well, I don't think that it's I don't think it's medical so much as mystical. [3408.1s] Oh, well, if you love it, I mean, that's a bonus. [3413.3s] Well, if it's a growth on you, it might be hard to set it free. [3417.8s] Yeah. Well, it just it just showed up one day. [3424.7s] Again, not a doctor. [3427.3s] Oh, all right. [3428.8s] Do you know where I can find a doctor? [3432.9s] At the hospital. [3434.1s] All right, guys, can we make a pit stop at the hospital? [3437.5s] By the way, there's a growth on my body that I'm quite attached to. [3442.3s] In a non-romantic, more of a platonic love and relationship. [3449.6s] You are a weird bunch. [3452.5s] Just full of problems. [3455.2s] Couple days, they're good moot sound. [3459.7s] Thanks. Thanks, Burko. [3462.2s] Come back and I shall tell you if I can help you or not. [3467.8s] OK, um. [3470.3s] So I guess the hospital. [3472.9s] Thank you both so much. [3473.8s] I've got Zumba out behind the Bahamut Temple. [3476.6s] If you guys want to join me on there every morning, it'd be great to see you. [3480.1s] Oh, you're the Zumba. [3481.7s] Hmm. Interesting. [3483.5s] Hope to see you. Well, I might be there. [3486.3s] Fran might have a hard time. [3487.9s] I will see if I can assist her if she so desires. [3491.3s] I haven't shaken, shaken like that in a long time. [3497.9s] I could probably do it. [3498.9s] All the more reason to come shake it, Fran. [3501.5s] Shaking it right now. [3507.1s] Sully backs away [3510.0s] through the doors and starts down the stairs [3514.1s] to the hospital. Come on, weirdos. [3516.5s] Sully, I'm a bit worried. [3517.5s] How long have you had a growth? [3519.5s] Well, it's just been a couple of days. [3521.2s] It's only this big and he holds up a. [3524.8s] I don't know. [3525.7s] It was like a couple inches across. [3528.4s] I mean, that seems pretty big. [3531.3s] Does it hurt? [3532.0s] Well, I know. And it just kind of came up like. [3535.3s] Well, actually, I think it just was this morning. [3538.5s] Oh, yesterday morning. [3540.2s] I sometimes lose track of time. [3541.8s] Either way, I have very strong feelings towards it, [3544.9s] which is very strange because I don't have strong feelings towards very much. [3549.3s] So I mean, I have a little bit of medical training. [3552.8s] Do you want do you want me to look? [3555.1s] Sure. I lift my. [3558.7s] My shirt to show the side of my torso. [3566.2s] I mean, you can roll medicine. [3567.7s] I rolled a 20. [3568.7s] So you see. [3574.0s] Not so much a lump as you see a bruise, [3577.9s] like a large welt on Sully's side. [3582.2s] And not an incision, but like a wound [3585.7s] that looks like it's rather fresh. [3590.6s] Sully, are you sure this was a lump? [3592.1s] Can you I know it's kind of hard to twist around to see, [3594.5s] but it's not really a lump. It's like. [3598.5s] Like, I don't know, like a welt or a cut, did somebody. [3603.9s] Does somebody shift you like what happened here? [3606.6s] Oh, no, not for years. [3608.9s] Um. I don't know. [3612.1s] I don't recall hurting myself or anything like that. [3614.7s] Nobody's cut me or anything like that. [3620.2s] And I haven't I can't really see it. [3622.5s] So and how do you do you still feel? [3627.5s] Just like a lot of love for it. [3630.6s] Well, yeah, I mean, it must be hard to be a welt [3634.3s] on the side of a small halfling. [3637.0s] Yeah, yeah, you're right. [3639.9s] Um, we probably should get you to the hospital, [3642.1s] though it doesn't really look good. [3644.5s] Yeah, OK, let's check it out. [3646.3s] If not for my safety, for his.
